When it comes to JDM legends, the Nissan Skyline is one of the most coveted, performance nameplates. The name dates back to 1955, when the model still “wore” the Prince badge, instead of Nissan’s. Today, Nissan unveiled a new, NISMO version of the Nissan Skyline. The Skyline and GT-R nameplates have been separated since 2007 when the R35 GT-R arrived as a standalone model.
The Skyline NISMO is not an all-new model since it is based on the car we know as the Infiniti Q50. Nissan promised a special, NISMO version, commemorating its racing heritage, and it did not disappoint. The 2024 Skyline NISMO made an official debut on August 8 and scored many aesthetic features, familiar from other more recent, Nissan models that received the NISMO treatment.
Nissan makes it clear that the new Nissan Skyline NISMO pays tribute to the 1964 S54A-1 Skyline GT, which is the first Skyline to successfully compete with European manufacturers, among which is Porsche. In terms of aesthetics, we see a similar treatment to the Nissan Z NISMO and GT-R NISMO. This includes the NISMO-exclusive, Stealth Gray exterior finish and a more aggressive body kit with red accents.
There are new, 19-inch Enkei wheels, exclusive to the NISMO, which are lighter, wider, and stronger than those on the regular Skyline/Q50. The front apron has been heavily redesigned and looks to be inspired by the R35 GT-R NISMO. At the rear, the Skyline/Q50 taillights now feature dual-circular, LED patterns, reminiscent of the iconic, round taillights of old Skyline and GT-R models.
Nissan markets the 2024 Nissan Skyline NISMO as a sporty grand tourer, and you can easily tell that by looking inside. The interior is, for the most part, familiar with the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport, with the most notable new features being the Recaro bucket seats, red rev-counter, and a new steering wheel with red accents and a 12 o’clock stripe. You still get the dual touchscreens on the center console and fake carbon-fiber inlays.
Japanese factory tuners are known to focus on chassis modifications more than anything else. But fret not, Nissan has given the sporty sedan more power. The 2024 Skyline NISMO benefits from the same VR30 DDTT, that you find in the Nissan Z NISMO. The 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V-6 now makes 420 horsepower (414 SAE horsepower) and 406 pound-feet (550 Nm).
The torque figure, in particular, is a lot higher than the 350-pound-feet (475 Nm) figure of the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport and the regular Nissan Z.
In terms of suspension, Nissan says the Skyline NISMO features a “specially-tuned” suspension, but they don’t say what they’ve done to it. We can safely assume it will be lower and stiffer than on the regular car. Revised electronics come with Sport and Sport+ driving models, which is where the engine and suspension characteristics will change the most.
Last but not least, the Skyline NISMO benefits from sticky performance summer tires.

This 2005 Impreza STi S203 is straight out of a private collection and ready for its new custodian.
Presenting in a stunning Alpine White exterior with the light grey interior, all the standard S203 STi bits and bobs including carbon fibre front Recaro seats, Brembo brakes and fitted with electronically adjustable Tein suspension and an aftermarket Ogura clutch, this S203 drives as good as it looks and handles like no other.
Absolutely beautiful condition, well looked after by its previous owner.
The Impreza S203 was developed based on the concept of a ‘globally pure sport sedan’ aiming to be an automotive rank with performance capabilities, which could compete alongside high-grade sport cars in Europe.
In addition to increasing the size of the turbine and improving the efficiency of the intake and exhaust systems, engine balancing was also performed.
Specially tuned dampers and low down springs were installed, and as for links, many pillow ball bushes were utilised, while the diameter of the stabilizer was also expanded.
From the results of aerodynamic study, special front and rear STI spoilers were fitted. This vehicle also featured RECARO bucket seats with a dry carbon shell.
Petter Solberg, the then lead driver of the SUBARU World Rally Team, was involved in development testing and his opinions were reflected in this model.
While the original colours of the Impreza were retained, the Impreza S203 was not just an extension of the original model. It reflected the highest quality and had a premium feel which satisfied the more mature driver's expectations.

Toyota’s continued development of clean and fuel-efficient power systems has yielded the market launch of its sixth hybrid-powered vehicle, the Alphard/vellfire Hybrid. A full-size MPV for the Japanese market, the Alphard uses the Toyota Hybrid System-CVT (THS-C). This comprises a 2.4-litre petrol engine and front and rear electric motors with a Super CVT continuously variable transmission and E-Four electric four-wheel drive system.
The E-Four system controls a rear-mounted electric motor that drives the rear wheels and controls the distribution of electric power to all four wheels. An electrically-controlled brake system (ECB) delivers efficient braking to each wheel individually for superior handling and safety. Using “by-wire” technology, it monitors brake pedal pressure and vehicle speed to calculate the optimum hydraulic pressure and works with the E-Four to maximise the collection of kinetic energy from braking for conversion into electric power.
The E-Four system is also supremely fuel-efficient: its ability to recover energy from each wheel helps the Alphard/Vellfire Hybrid to achieve around twice the fuel economy level demanded by the Japanese 2010 standards. Consumption is further aided by the car’s aerodynamic design, reduced operating resistance in each element of the powertrain and a new air conditioning system that uses a two-way compressor with its own built-in motor.
The Alphard/Vellfire Hybrid qualifies as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), achieving levels 75 per cent below the Japanese government’s 2000 benchmark. The 2.4-litre petrol engine has been developed specifically for use in hybrid systems and features a high-expansion ratio cycle that raises efficiency and reduces friction.
Smooth performance is aided by power from the rear wheel motor being used when accelerating away from start-up or in slippery conditions. The rear motor and differential form a single unit, so there is no need for a central propeller shaft. This reduces the vehicle’s weight and so contributes to the Alphard/Vellfire Hybrid’s fuel economy.
The system uses a hybrid battery with an output greater than any other yet produced and offers excellent energy management. The Alphard / Vellfire Hybrid can generate up to 1,500 watts and is equipped with standard 100-volt AC power outlets, allowing a wide range of household or business appliances to be used, such as hairdryers and microwave ovens. The battery is located beneath the front seats, so does not compromise the vehicle’s luggage capacity at the rear.
The Alphard/Vellfire Hybrid also offers a package of advanced safety systems, including a Blind Corner Monitor, which detects vehicles or pedestrians approaching from left or right, a Back Guide Monitor with a rear-facing camera to aid reversing maneuvers, radar-based intelligent cruise control and a lane monitoring system which measures the lateral distance between the vehicle and the margins of motorway lanes and sounds a warning if the car’s course begins to drift.
