This certificate is issued by the Japanese Department of Transport and is essential when exporting a vehicle. In Japan, they pay their registration every 2 years and part of the Deregistration Certificate will display the vehicles mileage at the last 2 renewals. Always ask for the original certificate. We’ve seen cases of certificates being photocopied so many times that the watermark becomes invisible and therefore, easier to forge. Below is an example of a certificate. Note the blue colour and the visible watermarks. Every car we sell comes with its original deregistration certificate.
In this below example you’ll notice in the bottom right quarter the 2 most recent renewals at 47,600km in 2013 and 56,500km in 2015. From here we can deduce that this vehicle has done roughly 5,000kms per year which is consistent with the odometer reading upon purchase.
