Auction sheets can be useful when purchasing cars in Japan. They should never be taken as gospel though. Some auction houses allow the owner of the vehicle to fill out their own Auction Sheet! There have been several instances we’ve seen over the years of a car being purchased at one auction only to appear at a different one the following week with a lot higher auction grade! Our buyers are extremely well trained at inspecting cars and we never just ‘buy off the auction sheet’. We have a very strict purchasing criteria that sees every vehicle is inspected prior to auction. We’re so fussy that we don’t even buy cars that have been smoked in! Auction grades of cars range from 6 being brand new, to 1 being highly modified. The interior is given a grade from A being the best to D being the worst. Generally, we only buy grade 4B or higher.
